As the premier laser & skin clinic in Dunedin, we have great pleasure bringing to you an award winning device (11 years in a row) BEYOND® II Whitening Accelerator - in clinic professional whitening treatment.

"Smile is the best makeup any girl can wear"  Marilyn Monroe

Selfie-culture, Instagram and Facebook are making us all more image conscious than ever. More and more people are opting to whiten their smiles ( who doesn't want a dazzling white smile for their profile pictures!). And if your teeth don't look as white as they could, you'll be constantly comparing yourself to your shiny-toothed peers.

If you love red wine and black coffee, have ever smoked or have simply neglected to take good care of your teeth over the years, you’ll notice how discoloured they get year after year. A far cry from the pearly whites of our youth, teeth can start to yellow over time, making us look less polished and – dare we say it – a lot older.

Introducing BEYOND® II Whitening Accelerator

With 10 high-intensity blue LEDs delivering a tailored beam of light between 480-520 nanometer and proprietary whitening formula which contains hydrogen peroxide and Silicon dioxoide acting as catalyst, the end result is not only whiter teeth but also in a short treatment time. It also has a secondary light unit capability for the treatment of two clients simultaneously. Perfect for the bridal party!

No uncomfortable tray or invasive gum blocking. You can relax in our comfortable reclining chair and chill out and we will have your teeth as naturally white as possible in 45 minutes (3 x 15 minutes treatments).

Simply, there is nothing better!

BEYOND® is already the World’s BEST Professional Teeth Whitening System as Independently Voted by Dental Advisor to be the World’s Best 8-years in a row.

How teeth whitening works

When it comes to teeth whitening, your teeth have two basic elements

1. The Dentin is the actual ‘tooth-bone’ that gives your teeth their natural white-ivory colour.

2. The Enamel is a clear, ‘glass-like’ protein layer’ that ‘clothes’ the tooth Dentin.

Enamel can be likened to a glass window that we look through to see the natural white-ivory colour of our tooth Dentin below the enamel.

Whenever the Enamel ‘window’ is stained, it veils the natural white-ivory colour of your teeth, and your teeth appear yellow or darker than they naturally would. No amount of surface brushing can remove such staining.

Cosmetic Teeth Whitening safely cleans the enamel 'window' by whitening the stains locked deeply within, instantly revealing the natural whiteness of your teeth.

World's safest Teeth Whitening Gel

We use a low % Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) catalyst activated formula because it gives the best and fastest results.

Our proprietary OSMO gel is chemically designed for light activated acceleration to rapidly penetrate tooth enamel to oxidize and decompose stains.

With lower strength, catalyst activated whitening gels there is very little risk of sensitivity when having the treatment; no burning gums, no swollen lips, no enamel damage or allergic reaction common with high strength peroxides.

The results are FAST, and amazing from 2 to 10 shades in 3 x 15 minutes treatments.

Light Activated

The gel becomes ‘photo-excited’ by the radiance emitted by our powerful professional whitening accelerator devices delivering tailored light 480-520 nanometres in wavelength at a luminance of up to 300,000lx. (The Sun emits 120,000lx at noon on a sunny day)

This innovation provides superior whitening results in a short treatment time.

Safe & effective

Because the sole purpose of Cosmetic Teeth Whitening is for beautification it is globally considered to be a Cosmetic procedure rather than a health or dental treatment.

With advances in technology it is a very simple, safe procedure that even the general public can buy, take home & use unsupervised.

Scientific research has shown that the active ingredients in the BEYOND® OSMO™ Teeth Whitening Gel are very effective and extremely safe for cosmetic tooth whitening.

In a recent clinical study our whitening gel was scientifically proven to be Safer than Orange Juice.

Teeth Whitening gel was first used to whiten teeth in 1884 and although more than 130 years have passed, there has never been a recorded case of any hydrogen peroxide teeth whitening gel damaging the enamel of a healthy tooth.

How white & how often?

How many shades whiter?

Because all teeth whiten differently it is not possible to guarantee how white an individuals teeth might become.

Nevertheless, for most, after undergoing whitening with our In-Clinic Teeth Whitening System, teeth shades whiten between 2 to 14 shades depending upon how stained your teeth are. Of course, if your teeth start at say a 5, the very maximum you can whiten is 5 shades.

Although individual results vary, the end result will be a whiter, shiny smile. Some clients with badly stained teeth or Tetracycline (antibiotic) staining may require several procedures.

How long will my whitening last?

This varies from person to person and depends on diet and lifestyle; for a few fortunate individuals with atypical diets the effects can last up to 1-2 years.

However, for most, their teeth whitening lasts 3 – 9 months, depending out your diet. So periodic touch-up treatments are recommended 3-monthly for clients who frequently consume coffee or other staining foods and drinks or for those that use tobacco products.

No it doesnt hurt.

Does it hurt?

Most clients experience no pain or sensitivity during or after the treatment.

Just some down time to relax in the chair!

24 hours post care

Teeth Whitening happens when the hydrogen peroxide breaks down into oxygen molecules, which enter through the porous enamel to the dentin, which is the actual ‘tooth bone’, directly under the enamel. It is the Dentin that provides the tooth its ivory-white colour.

These oxidising molecules enter the minuscule pores of the enamel and bleach the coloured substances so that the natural white-ivory colour of the Dentin can be seen clearly.

The enamel pores usually remain open for up to 24 hours after treatment.

Avoid for 24 hours:

Dark drinks such as tea, coffee, red wine, coloured soft drinks, fruit juice and green juice.

Dark foods and sauces such as soy sauce, tomato sauce and all fruits ( except bananas)

Enjoy in the first 24 hours:

White or clear drinks such as water, coconut water, milk, white wine or lemonade.

White fish, chicken, potatoes, pasta with white sauce, rice, yogurt, bananas and egg whites.

Types of stains

Broadly, there are two kinds of tooth discolouration – Extrinsic and Intrinsic

Intrinsic stains are stains on the Interior of the tooth surface,

Extrinsic stains are stains on the Exterior of the tooth surface,

Both extrinsic and intrinsic stains have different causes, and the kind of stain that a person suffers from will determine the most ideal whitening treatment option for their needs.

Tobacco products can lead to major extrinsic stains, causing the teeth to look brown or yellow. There are already plenty of compelling health reasons to avoid cigarettes, cigars, and chewing tobacco, and these aesthetic issues are also worth considering.

Food & Beverages
A number of common foods and beverages have been known to cause extrinsic stains as well, these include:
Coffee, Tea, Colas, Red wine, Beets, Curries, Carrots, Blueberries, Tomatoes
In essence, if it can stain a white shirt badly, it can lead to gradual dental stains over time.

Medications of varying kinds can cause intrinsic dental stains to occur. Some common medications that cause tooth discoloration include:
Tetracycline, Doxycycline, Antihistamines, Antipsychotic medications, Antihypertensive drugs

Fluoride can cause intrinsic and extrinsic dental stains, though not in the way that you’d think. Rather than yellow or brown stains, overexposure to fluoride can lead to chalky and over-white patches on the teeth.

Tooth decay & injury
Dental problems can cause stains to occur, some extrinsic (such as those causes by cavities and tooth decay) and some intrinsic (such as those caused by root canal infections).

Natural aging process
Over time, wear, tear, and combinations of the various factors above can lead to tooth discoloration and gradual stains appearing on the smile. This is normal, though it can be minimized or even treated.
